Hello Quilt Friends,
Well, it’s a new month, the year is half over and we have another six months of 2025 to accomplish some goals and look forward to the future! Honestly, I’m trying to be a “glass half full” kind of gal. Haha!
This past month we had a successful run as a vendor at the Panguitch Quilt Walk Festival. Not only did a good number of you stop by (thank you very much!), but we met and welcomed a lot of new folks to the Paisley Patch Quilts family! It was fun to watch my husband get in on the action when it came to explaining our Mini Patterns and Mini Packs to passersby. What started out with him calling patterns “recipes” eventually became “instructions” and just “fabric” was later referred to as “pre-coordinated fat 8ths”. While I’ve always been proud of his accomplishments, I was super stoked that he supported us in this way.
Speaking of Mini Packs, post-Panguitch we have a new display rack at the shop with our current selection of patterns and “pre-coordinated” fabric sets. There are lots of colors and prints available. Kami has done a great job (not to mention put in a lot of time) mixing, matching and developing patterns to use with each kit. I tell you, I couldn’t do all of this without her!

As for the rest of 2025, I have a class reunion and Alaska cruise coming up in August, family campout and Elizabeth’s wedding in September and my mother’s 90th birthday party in October. Then, of course, we’re into the holiday season with lots of quilting to do in and around all of that. So, not much downtime in my life right now.
And we’re throwing in a couple of quilting related events as well. For those of you who own a longarm quilting machine and use the Quilt Path program, Master Quilter Jeff Yasenchok will be teaching a beginning class July 18-19 and advanced class September 5-6 here at my shop in Nephi Utah. He is fabulous(!) and really knows all the inner workings of the program! If interested, you can contact him at 510-731-4286 for more information.
Finally, a nod to our nation’s birthday. Can you believe this Friday will be the 249th anniversary of America’s independence? And just think, in another 12 months we’ll be celebrating 250 years of freedom.
In his book 1776, David McCollough describes various details of battles that should have been lost to the British, how a dense fog impeded the Redcoats from overtaking Washington’s army along the Potomac River and other events that eventually brought about the enemy’s surrender. I believe these are just a couple of examples of the Lord’s hand in establishing this country by divine intervention.
I’m hoping over the next year we’ll come together as Americans regardless of our backgrounds and beliefs to honor those men and women who lived according to their conscience and trusted God to guide their steps to establish a land truly independent of all other influences.
I, for one, am grateful for our founding fathers, mothers, sons and daughters who fought for and won (both on the battlefield and behind the scenes) the right to be called Americans.
