Dis-Patch Newsletter January 2025
January 2025 Volume 5, Issue 01
Hello Quilt Friends,
Well, we made it! Another great year just wrapped up and it’s time to practice writing or typing “2025” on anything that requires a date. Just this morning I did my best to write 2025 on a few birthday checks that should have been mailed in December 2024. While the cards were already late, I successfully wrote today’s date on each one of them! So far, 2025 is off to a good start. Ha, ha.
Speaking of success, I was able to finish all 24 bandana quilts, the last two being completed by noon on Christmas Eve. Here’s a glimpse of 11 of the quilts with their benefactors (almost half of my amazing grandkids). I think they turned out pretty good despite the fact not all bandanas are square or even made the same size. Many of the quilt tops have puckers and folds tucked into the quilting. But they were never intended to be show-quality quilts. The seams may match, but that’s the end of any attempt at making two dozen perfect quilts. They’re meant to be used, washed, dried and used some more until they become mere threads and need to be replaced. Anyway, I had a lot of fun putting them together and felt some sense of validation when our grandson Isaac realized that I quilted basketballs into his blanket which represents his current passion.
And, before I forget, here’s a big shout out (!!!) to Kami for covering the shop so I could take a few extra days off while my mom, daughter and grandson were here from Seattle. She has definitely been a source of strength and support these last 4-1/2 years and I surely appreciate every single bit of it.
So, now it’s back to “normal” at the shop (whatever normal is). We’re finally going to rehang all the display quilts that we took down for trunk shows in August and September along with a few new ones. We’re going to create more space in the classroom by condensing some of the supplies we have back there. We plan on offering finished quilts for sale and more “grab and go” uniquely curated kits and patterns from Paisley Patch Quilts. So, keep your eyes peeled for more details in future announcements on each of our social media platforms.
One change we’re going to implement this year is closing a little earlier during the week. New hours will be 10am to 5pm Tuesday through Friday while maintaining the same schedule on Saturday from 10am to 4pm. I know that an extra hour is convenient for those who may need something at the last minute, but that rarely happens. So, I want to take back a little time to spend at home with my hubby and pups. Besides, I can hardly wait to see the look on Tim’s face when he comes home, and dinner is already done. It’s going to be epic!
Finally, we both want to welcome you to another new year and all the hope and opportunity that lies ahead. Just remember we’re here to fulfill your quilting needs, wants and inspiration.
We wish you and your family all the best that 2025 can be.
As always, we hope you’re healthy, happy, and finding joy in each 1/4” seam.
Happy Quilting!
~ Beth and Kami
