Dis-Patch Newsletter August 2024

August 2024 Volume 5, Issue 08

Hello Quilt Friends,

Sorry for the delay in getting this month's newsletter out. We have some issues that required us to call our tech support to help solve. So withour further ado . . .

I’m not sure how warm it’s been where you are, but it’s been stifling here in Utah. High 90’s and into the low 100’s for the past several weeks. Makes me almost want to trade places with my grandson Eli who works as a lifeguard at the city pool. Not that I have the strength or skill to pull anyone out of the water, but I could probably perform CPR in an emergency if I really had to. Ha, ha! Guess I’ll have to settle for staying cool the old-fashioned way with indoor air conditioning!

Well, the Summer Olympics are in full swing over in France. Other than finding the medal count on the internet I haven’t really been too interested in watching any of the events except maybe gymnastics. I find beach volleyball, tennis and break dancing (really???) too boring to watch, but if that’s your jam, I support you all the way. Now, if they ever wanted to make quilting a competitive sport, I might be all in and even try out for the team! Ha, ha, again!

Speaking of sports marathons, things in the shop are humming right along. I’ve been quilting a lot of customer projects almost daily trying to carve out some time to get a few of our own done. The next one on the longarm frame is a different version of our Almost Amish quilt sampler.   The first one I did is like a traditional Amish quilt with black sashing and rich blue, purple and green blenders. This one has a reverse colorway with white sashing and blocks made of autumn-colored prints. I usually don’t use a pattern more than once, but I was curious about how this one would turn out. Have to say that I like the lighter version slightly better than its darker counterpart. I’m hoping to have it done next week just in time for a couple of trunk shows I’ll be hosting in August and September.

Lucky us! Our Benartex rep Dave came by this morning to show us a few new lines that are coming out later this year. Some of them are so pretty that it will be hard to wait six months before they get shipped to us. But here’s a sneak peek at both the Enchanted and French Meadow lines due to arrive in November and January ’25 respectively.

Speaking of new fabric, we just received our shipment of Tula Pink’s Tabby Road Déjà Vu line. It’s a super fun color twist on her original collection that was first released in 2012. We hope you’ll enjoy it as much as we do. It’s all part of our effort to offer fun, attractive fabrics that will suit your quilting needs.

I do hope you’re able to see a couple of quilt shows this summer. Seems the time is right to take in various county fairs and guild sponsored events. I’m so excited to attend some shop-owner classes at Thanksgiving Point this year during the Garden of Quilts show. Of course, I’ll be missing the annual family campout, but I feel this experience will give me an extra boost of inspiration from both industry experts and the amazing quilts on display.

 Till next time…

As always, we hope you’re healthy, happy, and finding joy in each 1/4” seam.

Happy Quilting!
~ Beth and Kami
