The Paisley Dis-Patch Newsletter October 2023
October 2023 Volume 4, Issue 10
Dear Quilting Friends,
(Big sigh!) I think time is the bane of my existence. That and brain fog. I can’t tell you the number of times I thought about writing this latest newsletter, but then got distracted by something else. Now it’s Oct 4th and I’m focused on getting this done before I do anything else.
Well, we’re back in the swing of things after a crazy couple of months. In August I survived a somewhat unusual family reunion at my mom’s house. Because she had extra guests staying with her she found out that her septic tank system couldn’t handle the increased water flow. Since then, the septic system has been decommissioned and she is now hooked up to city services. Whew! Thought we were going to have to head to the local gas station for a couple of days. Now that’s not a problem.
In September my husband and I also attended a family campout on his side of the family. After tent camping last year I decided that my old bones don’t do that well so close to the ground. Fortunately, we were able to buy a little pop-up tent trailer that kept us warm and dry in the Washington weather. What a great way to go! We had plenty of room for our dogs and the mattress we slept on was exceptionally comfortable. No aches or pains when I woke up each morning.
After that I went back to my mom’s house for a few more days to look through family photos and other memorabilia. Two artifacts stand out. One was a copy of the Certificate of Citizenship granted to one of my great-great-grandfathers. The other was an ancestor’s (born in the 1780’s) testimony of God in her life. Both items touched my heart and brought tears to my eyes. Family really does go on forever in both directions.
As I mentioned last month, it feels like Christmas here every time new inventory arrives. It’s been fun to see what’s in each box since I don’t remember what I ordered 8 months before it gets shipped.
But here are a couple of examples of what came in just this week.
Consequently, we don’t have enough room to stuff everything on the shelves, so we’re discounting some of our older stock to as low as $5 per yard. Of course, all of that is subject to stock on hand. So, come see what we have in person or check out our clearance page to see what’s available.
And………we’re adding new classes. The Halloween Hexie Runner is currently scheduled in October and we’ll be setting up dates/times for Final Steps (FS) A and B classes. FS-A will cover borders (there is a trick to making them square). FS-B will focus on trimming the quilt after it has been quilted and attaching the binding. Just watch for future announcements as to availability.
Hopefully, the crisp air and fall colors are inspiring your creativity. While every season has it’s splendor, I think fall is the most colorful. So, heat up a cup of cider, gather up your red, green, gold and orange fabrics and plan to make a quilt (or two) to celebrate this time of year. I know I will be doing that myself.
As always, we hope you’re healthy, happy, and finding joy in each 1/4” seam.
Happy Quilting!
