The Paisley Dis-Patch Newsletter April 2023

April 2023 Volume 4, Issue 04

Dear Quilting Friends,

When I got home this afternoon I discovered my husband had trimmed almost every bush in our front yard. Seems he was tired of looking at all the dead leaves and stalks that have been buried under some amount of snow since last October. With temperatures in the fifties the past few days, it’s a welcome sight to finally see the tops of daffodils and other foliage poking through the ground.

In addition to sprucing up the outside, we’re gearing up to redecorate on the inside. I recently began boxing up the infrequently used items in my sewing room like art supplies, pillow forms, lace, trims, buttons, etc., to make it easier to move things out before rolling a couple of coats of paint on the walls. Now, ironically, I’m putting all of it back into the same boxes I emptied just last summer. Good thing I saved them all. I just hope it’s not another 4 years till I can empty them all again.

Aside from our personal spring cleaning we’ve been busy at the shop this past month serving our wonderful customers, filling orders, adding new inventory, and holding classes such as the Beginning Quilting class, Easter runner and our very first, Amish-inspired quilt class.

Relative to the latter, I must give props to Sarah, Natalie, Sherrie, and Denise for being my pattern “testers”. Fortunately, they were super good sports about the whole thing and pointed out only a few minor typos and errors. What surprised me most was how vastly different all the quilts turned out because of everyone’s fabric choices despite using the same pattern. Mine is pictured here =>    Theirs were all equally as beautiful. We’ll be offering the class again soon and testing different days and times to fit more people’s schedules. Hopefully, there will be another 4 or 5 ambitious quilters who wish to add one more gorgeous quilt to their collection.

There’s nothing better than filling your days with all the things you love to do. As winter fades into spring and new grass emerges in your yard, I do hope you’ll find time to go for a walk, feel the warmth of the sun on your face, pull a few weeds, or go on a picnic and of course, still have time to work on a quilt or two.

As always, we hope you’re healthy, happy, and finding joy in each 1/4” seam.

Happy Quilting ~ Beth and Kami
