Dear Quilting Friends,

Although I tell myself months in advance that I’m not going to do it again, I always seem to give in to the same temptations every holiday season. You know what I mean. While it’s supposed to be about family and friends, it always comes down to what we’re fixing for dinner and how many leftovers we’re going to have. And, to top it off, this year my husband decided to start following the Keto diet which means I was left with twice as many leftovers as in previous years. Fortunately, all the bad-for-me stuff is finally gone (I promise I didn’t eat it all), and I have plenty of time to build up my willpower to ward off whatever enticements are lurking between now and Christmas. Wish me luck!

We are super busy at the shop quilting many customers projects, conducting classes, and helping you create wonderful quilts and treasured gifts. It’s amazing to me how vastly different and creative your imaginations are. I definitely draw much of my inspiration from what I see you do!.

As far as classes go, plans for our Amish-inspired quilt project are coming along nicely.

Here’s a picture of the finished top.

As you can imagine, traditional Amish quilts incorporate many bright, solid colors against a backdrop of solid black fabric.

However, after having a design epiphany, I’m going to incorporate an anchor print with various grunge-type blenders as shown here. So, mine will have a slightly modern “feel” as compared to their centuries old practices.

Whether you choose to stick to a more traditional color scheme or be a little more adventurous, this 6-week class will definitely give your “inner Amish” a place to practice a bit of creative license while finishing this 25-block, 80” X 80” quilt.
